Biography
For more than a decade, Mark Coleman has served in a senior research capacity for the AHC Group. During that time Mark has contributed to AHC Group research, publications, development of executive leader-to-leader workshop development, and facilitation of private multi-company corporate benchmarking learning and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Mr. Coleman provides AHC Group support through sensing interviews, client research, and partnership development. He has a unique background in this area, having worked in industry, government, management consulting, applied research, and academic organizations. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Coleman has developed a strong capability in strategic thinking in business and organizational strategy in the critical areas of energy, environment and sustainability.
In addition to his Senior Research role with AHC Group, since 2004 Mr. Coleman has served as a Senior Program Manager at the Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies (CIMS) and Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). CIMS exists to increase the competitiveness of manufacturers through applied technology and training. Mr. Coleman also co-manages the RIT Clean Energy Incubator (CEI), a business and technology incubator targeting early-stage clean and renewable energy companies. Mr. Coleman is an active member of RIT's Campus Environmental Committee (CEC), serving as a liaison between CIMS and other university departments. He has also previously served on a planning committee helping to guide RIT's efforts to develop an action plan toward climate neutrality, a goal that RIT President Bill Destler has established in partnership with the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC).
Prior to 2004, Mr. Coleman served as an energy analyst and strategist with the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA). NYSERDA is a public benefits corporation that administers a billion-dollar public benefit program designed to provide energy efficiency services, including those directed at the low-income sector, research and development, and environmental protection activities. At NYSERDA, Mark worked within the Energy Analysis Group participating on a cross-disciplinary team that oversaw the evaluation of NYSERDA's public benefits funded program, and provided objective information, data, and analysis to support program design, development, and administration, as well as strategic organizational and program planning. While at NYSERDA, he also contributed to statewide energy planning; NYSERDA's strategic planning process; and the development of an energy market research and intelligence capability.
Mr. Coleman is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Master of Science in Environmental Management and Policy from the Lally School of Management & Technology. He is also a graduate of Binghamton University, with a Bachelor of Art in Geography and Environmental Studies. Mr. Coleman resides in Fairport, NY, with his wife Aileen and son Owen.
